Shrodinger’s Cat

Awakening to this New Year

I turned to the East, the rising sun bore bright the morning through soft mist

Southward lay open sky.

In the North a rising wall of cold grey glory,

pushed winds and feathered snow into the sunlit South.

For one moment there was only the promise of something, beautiful and full.

In the dancing dawn and falling flake.

There is richness in such moments.

Those that hold the eternal all,

past and present,

life and death,

sun and shadow.

(The cat, they say, is both dead and alive in that one breath.)

Yet we must choose

or have the world choose for us.

And so I moved into the unfolding day

into the unknown answering of the now.
